Privacy Policy
Last updated: placeholder — pending legal review
This policy explains what information Satio collects, how we use it, and the choices you have — written in plain language, not legalese.
Information we collect
Account information you give us directly: your name, email address, password, and timezone. Financial information from banks you choose to link: account balances and transaction history (date, amount, merchant, and category). Usage information: how you interact with the app, so we can fix bugs and improve it.
How we use your information
To calculate your Satio Score and daily safe-to-spend amount, detect spending patterns and generate the suggestions in your feed, show your recurring-merchant breakdown, send the notifications you've opted into, and keep your account secure.
Third parties
We use Plaid, Inc. to connect to your bank accounts — see "How we use Plaid" in the You tab for a full plain- language breakdown of what that connection does and doesn't do. Plaid has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your data (available at plaid.com/legal). We also use push-notification providers (Apple, Google, and Expo) solely to deliver the notifications you've enabled. We do not sell your personal or financial information to anyone, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from You → Delete account — this immediately and permanently erases your account, linked banks, transactions, Satio Score history, suggestions, and settings, and revokes access to every bank you've linked. This action can't be undone.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or export the information tied to your account by contacting us. You can remove our access to your bank at any time by deleting your account in You → Delete account. Where available, you can also disconnect a single bank in You → Banks; we stop reading it and delete our access token, and your history stays until you delete your account. You can turn off notifications at any time from the You tab. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, as described above.
Security
Bank access tokens are encrypted at rest, and all traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). We treat your financial data as sensitive by default, not as an afterthought.
Children's privacy
Satio is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under the age of 18.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you in the app before they take effect.
